Oscar Edward Barajas, a cherished chef, beloved father, and a soul full of zest for life, was born on May 2, 1976, in Washington, DC. He left this world on December 18, 2024, in Kensington, Maryland, surrounded by the warmth of memories that he so lovingly cultivated throughout his life.
Oscar had an unparalleled passion for cooking; his culinary creativity turned simple ingredients into exquisite five-course meals that delighted all who were fortunate enough to gather around his table. The kitchen wasn't just a workplace for Oscar; it was his sanctuary, and he could often be found honing his skills and sharing his gastronomic delights with family and friends. His silly and goofy demeanor made him a beloved figure in many kitchens, where his big heart and ability to make everyone smile shone brightly. Oscar was not only the best scrapple sandwich maker; he was also a confidant and companion to those who joined him in culinary pursuits.
Among his fondest memories were times spent playing Cerveza buddies and watching movies, laughter echoing through the walls as he brought people together with food and fun. His creativity and intelligence showed in everything he touched, leaving a lasting imprint on all who knew him.
Oscar's family was his pride and joy. He is survived by his children, Jack mcDaniel, Ariana, Oscar, and Anastasia, and grandson Aiden who carry forward his legacy of love and passion. He also leaves behind his mother, Ana Barajas, brothers Daniel De La Rosa and Victor Barajas, sisters Laura Barajas, Jennifer Barajas, and Stephany Barajas, his nieces Destany, Hannah, Aubrey and his loving girlfriend Ursula Peña. Each of them holds their own cherished memories of Oscar, memories that will live on in their hearts.
He was preceded in death by his father, Rodolfo de La Rosa, who surely greeted him with open arms in the afterlife.
