In Loving Memory of Jean Millicent Southam
Jean Millicent Southam, beloved spouse, parent, grandparent, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2023 at the age of 96.
Born on December 14th, 1926 in New York City as Jean Millicent Otto, she lived a full adventurous life as she also touched the lives of so many others along her journey. Jean was an amazing individual known for her kind spirit, creativity and wacky sense of humor. She loved to sing, travel the world, enjoy the outdoors and spread kindness and goodwill to everyone around her. She kept her youthful spirit for most of her life and was always ready to try new things. She learned to ski and rollerblade in her 60's and was still able to go canoeing and kayaking at the age of 90.
Jean Millicent Otto was married to Walter Lloyd Southam on June 4th, 1955. She moved from New York to Washington D.C. where they started a family together which led to a long happy marriage of over 50 years before the passing of her husband. Over the years she was always the matriarch who brought people together and was typically the center of attention at family gatherings.
She is survived by her 3 children, 5 grandchildren, and a pair of great grandchildren with more on the way. She is also beloved by a host of relatives and friends who will cherish her memory.
She will be greatly missed for her warmth, humor, creativity, poetic writings and her amazing singing voice. Her legacy and spirit will continue to inspire us all.
May her soul find eternal peace.
